You know what they say about the weather, right? “ Everyone complains about it but no one does anything.” That was true back in the day and it’s just as true now. Except for one thing. Weather is ubiquitous outside and weather information is ubiquitous in every iDevice we own. For my Mac I have two levels of weather apps. Here’s the free one.

Weather: Track It? Or, Glance At It?

Weather

For comprehensive weather I use which bills itself as the Mac weather app for weather watchers. That’s not the app I’m pushing at the moment because watching the weather takes time, and I’m married to my Mac’s keyboard most of the day. That requires a more elegant weather watching solution. So, if you’re on a budget, limited in cash, and just need the basic facts, check out.

This is weather for people who want to know what’s going on, but need to be spared all the gritty, gory details about wind velocity, barometric pressure, cloud cover, et al. Degrees is free and lives in the Mac’s Menubar. It can detect your location automatically, and displays the basic weather information– current conditions and temperature– visible in the Menubar. Of course, you can enter any location you want and still get the updated weather information in the Menubar. Preferences and configurations are nominal. Degrees lets you choose locations from cities around the world, select how the temperature while be displayed, whether or not to display the weather icons in the Menubar, and setup one-click access to a more detailed weather report from Yahoo!
